There are three main types of rodents that are a pest in Auckland. The two types of rats in New Zealand are the Norway Rat and
the Ship Rat(roof rat). The third rodent pest is the House Mouse. Rodents are a pest due to their destructive tendancies, the noise they make and
issues related to disease transfer and food hygiene. Rats, unlike mice, suffer from neophobia, that is they do not trust new things or
objects; meaning that they will ignore bait stations for up to a week as it is new to their surroundings. Mice, however, within minutes
of finding a bait station will start feeding. Mutiple feed baiting of rodents is now the prefered option for eradicating rats or mice as
it is the safest option. This is because the bait is less toxic and less likely to be fatal to other animals that accidentially feed on it.
Aces uses FINAL BLOX (brodifacoum) which we coat with a non-toxic attractant (chocolate sauce). When the rodents take the bait it causes
them to become thirsty and seek water. Mostly they go outside in search of water and end up dying outside the building. Baiting
is an effective option in particular where there is access to the areas the rodents are living. However, if the area they are living in is
inaccessable, it may be worth considering mechanical traps. This is because it catches the rodents and prevents them dying in an unaccessable area
It is important to establish food sources that rodents are using and restrict them. These maybe inside the house e.g. grains or outside the
the house e.g. fruit trees. It is also important to restrict the entry of the rodents from the building. Restriction of entry maybe
inspecting garage doors, boarding up holes in walls, restricting access from trees/structures touching building

PROCEDURE: Aces will visit your site for an assessment. It is important to find recent signs of activity. One of the signs is
rodent droppings, as they tell you how active they are and where they are living. Aces will place bait stations in the areas of recent
activity. The bait stations need to be checked after a week and restocked. At the two-week mark, Aces will return to inspect the
site for any dead animals and restock bait. Dead animals will be removed by the Aces technician on the second visit.

ADVICE: Following the treatment Aces will make suggestions on how to reduce the chance of the rodents coming back into your building.
