Pest Control Auckland
Bedbugs are becoming more common in New Zealand and around the world. Bedbugs are small, brown, oval and flattened insects that bite.
Bedbugs belong to the order Hemiptera, the same order that cicadas and stinkbugs belong to. Hemipterans
The unusual thing about bedbugs is that instead of sucking sap for food they suck blood.
OUCH!!! IS IT BEDBUGS????? Bedbugs/fleas/mosquitos have similar types of bites. All three can bite without your knowing you have been bitten
How do I know it's a bedbug? Unless you catch one and stick it in a jar for the pest controller to confirm its a bedbug YOU DON'T KNOW if it's
fleas/bedbugs/mosquitos biting you. If you can't catch a bedbug, then ACES can offer an inspection for a call out fee.It is important to work out what
is biting you and where you are being bitten before embarking on a treatment plan.
SUGGESTIVE SIGNS: Black stains on the areas near the bed. These look like a black fountain pen has been left to run its ink onto the wood or matress
Bite in a line may be suggestive of bedbugs. Blood on the sheets is not always a sign of bedbugs.
TREATMENT: An inspection of the room and bed needs to be conducted by a pest controller. The Pest Controller needs to find all
bedbugs in your room(s) and kill them with insecticide dust. A fast acting spray needs to be applied to the effected rooms.
In some cases the customer may want to purchase ( seperate to the treatment charge) a matress and base cover. These ensure that any bedbugs
in the matress or base are prevented from getting out. Common areas such as living rooms should also be inspected and treated it nessicary.
WHAT DO I DO? Wash all your linen in a hot wash and then a hot dry. This kills any eggs that may be on the linen.
